THE INCEPTION
Barbaric Battles was born in the chaos of School Halls all across the country.
It was refined and honed by hours of school children learning about history through living it!
The Remit?
Bring history to life by training as ancient warriors and joining battle with classmates.

​THE EVOLUTION
When we began offering Barbaric Battles as a larger arena show to heritage venues, our Instructors had to meet the new challenges presented by a live audience and participants aged 5-50 with limited discipline or cohesion!

Numbers of participants grew from a class size of 30 in schools to over 100 in our arena shows.
Barbaric Battles expanded to Heritage venues all over the UK, from Medieval Castles to Roman Forts on Hadrians Wall.

THE EQUIPMENT
We had begun resourcing our education sessions by making our own foam equipment as far back as 2018.

We figured out early on that for the learning to be as hands-on as possible - you had to be able to actually hit each other!
​
The only solution was the fabulous properties of Foam. We began constructing historically accurate or inspired weapons, shields and armour for Barbaric Battles sessions.
​
This quickly expanded to using foam for many other hands-on learning sessions due to its versatility.

'SILHOUETTE' RANGE IS BORN
During the downtime enforced by COVID-19, we deep-dived into the world of Cosplay costume making to refine both our variety and production techniques.
​
The process was fantastic for our creative side, but the resource required to produce equipment in the numbers required outstripped our bespoke approach.
​
In 2025 we began a long-planned project with a team of CAD designers and foam manufacturers that has unlocked our ability to mass-produce.
